School Uniforms
School Uniforms are used in schools Australia wide and many companies sell them . A company is appointed by the school to be its supplier and generally provides a shop on the school campus and another retail outlet elsewhere.
Second hand uniforms are either sold by this company or the school itself . Sometimes the school itself will sell the second hand uniform for the owner and take a percentage of the sale price . This is seen as a way for schools to raise funds as well as providing a valuable service for current and ex-students alike .
A lucarative market exists in second hand uniforms as the new items are very expensive to buy .Students often outgrow their uniform particularly over the long hot summer months and can need to be replaced yearly.
Many styles and combinations exist .
Blazers are worn by some schools winter and summer as are hats , shorts and short sleeved shirts . Year round items often include skirts , dresses , trousers , jumpers and ties.
Quality of garments also varies with some being made from wool and cotton others being a synthetic mix , acrylic or polyester .
